General information

In 2008 the Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Zakharchuk AS created the chair of State Legal Disciplines and Ukrainian Studies with the aim of improving the teaching and study of the disciplines of historical, political and legal direction on the basis of the Departments of State and Legal Disciplines (Head of the Department Professor Hayenko VI) and Ukrainian Studies.

Since September 2010, the chair has been headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Shestakova Svetlana Alexandrovna.

The department provides teaching of the following disciplines: History of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture, Political science, Ukrainian language of professional direction, Country studies, History of state and law of Ukraine and foreign countries, History of doctrines on state and law, State law of foreign countries, Foundations of Roman law, Theory of state and Law, Comparative Law, Philosophy of Law, Public Broadcasting and Fundamentals of Academic Writing, Public Speaking, Topical Problems of State and Law Theory, Methods of Teaching Legal Disciplines in higher education.

The research topic of the department is: “Historical and linguistic research: traditions and innovations”.

The department has the necessary logistical support needed for teaching, and other activities. The department has a teaching and methodological office “Ukrainian Studies” № 236.

The teaching and methodical classroom of the chair of State Law Disciplines and Ukrainian Studies provides organizational, informational and methodological support for teaching such Ukrainian disciplines as the History of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture, the Ukrainian language of professional direction, the History of the state and law of Ukraine and foreign countries, the History of the doctrine of the state and foreign countries right; promotes the status of the state language among teachers and students, the popularization of Ukrainian public and political and legal thinking, and the Ukrainian national heritage.

2019 year

For the years 2018-2019 teachers of the chair took part in international, Ukrainian and foreign scientific-practical conferences (Shestakova S.O., Kharchenko I.I., Rozhkova L.I, Mikhailichenko M.A., Goncharenko AV, Bondar N.A., Kuzmenko NM), as well as at the scientific and practical conference of SNAU teachers (associate professors: Shestakova S.O., Kharchenko I.I., Rozhkova L.I., Goncharenko A.V. lecturers: Mikhailichenko M. A., Kuzmenko N.M., Tsyganok M.G., Bondar N.A.).

Teachers of the chair have published 18 scientific articles in professional editions, including one article in the journal indexed in Scopus and 11 Index Copernicus.

The chair created 1 scientific student society “Topical issues of history and law of Ukraine” (Head: Assoc. Prof. Mikhailchenko MA).

Led by the teachers of the chair (Associate Professors: Shestakova S.O., Rozhkova L.I., Mikhailichenko M.A., Goncharenko A.V. Senior Lecturers: Kuzmenko NM, Bondar NA, Tsyganok MG .) students prepared reports and participated in the scientific-practical conference of SNAU teachers and students, international and Ukrainian conferences. Teachers including students published 40 abstracts.

Associate Professors AV Goncharenko, MA Mikhailichenko, LI Rozhkova prepared four students to participate in a student research competition conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Before the Day of Defender of Ukraine, the teachers of the chair organized and held an educational event “Heroes of our time – defender of Ukraine” with the participation of students of the Law Faculty.

On November 21, 2018, on the Day of Native Language and Literacy, the teachers of the department and students participated in the writing of the traditional Dictation of national unity.

In February 2019, the students were organized to prepare and participate in the Inter-University event “Travel in Ukraine”.

On the occasion of the 205th anniversary of the birth of T.G. Shevchenko, the teachers of the chair held a literary and musical holiday “Wreath of Shevchenko weaved from the poems”.

Students participated in the Regional Literature Competition “Studlit – 2019” (March 2019)

Students’ Participation in the Ukrainian Local Lore Scientific Conference “Panteleimon Kulish as a National – Spiritual Phenomenon: Aspects of Modern Scientific Understanding” (March 2019) Assoc. Kharchenko I.I. prepared four students who gave presentations.

On the Day of Embroidery the Department joined the flash mob “Day of Embroidery in SNAU”, which took place on May 17, 2019.

2018 year

For 2017-2018 teachers of the department participated in International and All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences (Shestakova S.O., Rozhkova L.I., Mikhailichenko M.A., Goncharenko A.V., Bondar N.A., Kirilenko N.I., Protsenko I.I., Kuzmenko N.M.), as well as at the scientific and practical conference of SNAU teachers (associate professors: Shestakova SO, Mikhailichenko MA, Rozhkova LI, Goncharenko AV : Kuzmenko NM, Tsyganok MG, Bondar NA).

Teachers of the chair published 20 scientific articles in professional journals.

6 students were prepared to participate in the International Language and Literary Competition named after M.Sc. Taras Shevchenko and the International Competition for Ukrainian Language Experts. P. Jacyk.

The SNAU Museum of History hosts the exhibition “For Ukraine, for its Will”, organized by the chair of State Law Disciplines and Ukrainian Studies for the centenary from the beginning of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921. Exposure materials (photos, insignia, equipment, mock-ups, elements of uniforms of Ukrainian soldiers of the time) were presented at the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Slobozhanshchina in 1917-1921: Measuring the Revolution” (October 27-28, 2017, Sumy , SSU, SOIPPO) and during the roundtable on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the events of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1920 (15 November 2017, Sumy, Sumy Regional State Administration).

On May 18, 2018, the Great Terror round table on the territory of the modern Sumy region (1937-1939) was held on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression ”. One of the organizers of the event was thr chair of State Law Disciplines and Ukrainian Studies.

Before the Day of Defender of Ukraine, the teachers of the chair organized and held a competition of creative works among first-year students, an exhibition of the best works was held.

The chair of DPD and Ukrainian Studies became a co-organizer of the All-Ukrainian Regional Scientific Student-Student Conference “Sumy in Historical and Philological Dimension” (Sumy, March 30, 2018).

Led by Assoc. MA. Mykhailychenko, a student of the Faculty of Law, was prepared and submitted to the competition of student scientific works the work on the topic: “Policy of the UNR Directory on the Jewish National Minority”. Associate Professor Rozhkova LI prepared two law students for participation in the student scientific conference “Topical issues of state and law”, which took place on April 20, 2018 at Sumy Branch of KNUVS, , who were awarded with honors for the best reports.

The teachers of the chair took part in the organization of the XIII Multimedia Olympiad on History for Students, which took place in May 2018.
